Utah County Routing Notes
Several counties need special care. Daggett County research identifies Daggett County Jail as closed since 2017, so a current jail search may not work like a normal county roster. Morgan County has no jail beds and uses Weber County Correctional Facility for housing, with local holding cells for short processing. Piute County has no jail beds and routes sentenced jail time to Sevier County Jail. Wayne County research also uses Sevier County Jail as the primary detention destination. Salt Lake County includes both county jails and UDC facilities, so the custody type should be checked before assuming a roster.
The Utah VINELink portal can add release or transfer notification after the correct county or UDC record has been identified.
VINE is helpful for alerts, but it should be paired with the official jail, UDC, or court record that matches the custody type.
County Jail and Court Records
A county jail roster answers where a person is held and what booking information the sheriff publishes. Court records answer whether charges were filed, which court has the case, what hearings occurred, and what judgment or outcome appears in the court system. Utah Courts says Xchange contains public district court and justice court case information entered into CORIS, while MyCase is the better channel for eligible parties to their own cases. Sealed, expunged, juvenile delinquency, child welfare, termination, and other nonpublic records are not displayed on Xchange.
